    Opportunity Knocks Again this Summer For Salem Teens Applications are due May 15th

    Since 2014, 334 Salem high school students have participated in this competitive, paid internship program Salem – Mayor Chuck Bennett announced today the opening of the online application for the Salem Summer Internship Program (SSI). Now in its fifth year, SSI is a competitive program that places eligible public high school students in paid work-based learning opportunities at the City’s leading corporations and nonprofit organizations.

    The program also includes an orientation session and weekly professional development workshops, where students apply what they learn in their internships. Students earn academic credit through the Hudson County and Salem School Districts. To date, SSI has provided 334 Salem public school students with high-quality summer internships.

    The Great Salem City Clean-up

    The Great Salem City Clean-up takes place citywide every year on or around Earth Day. Residents, civic organizations, community leaders and elected officials roll up their sleeves and help "clean-up" by picking up litter and other debris in an effort to improve quality of life for residents. It’s part of a nationwide campaign, Keep America Beautiful.
